Ingredients

  • 27 frozen crispy crown potatoes (about 22 oz bag)
  • 0.75 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 pinches kosher salt
  • 2 pinches freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pinches onion powder
  • 3 slices yellow American cheese
  • 3 slices crispy cooked bacon

Equipment

  • 2 Baking Sheets For baking potatoes and beef separately.
  • Bamboo Picks or Long Toothpicks For securing and serving the bites.

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange frozen crispy crown potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  2. In a small bowl, gently mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and onion powder. Shape into 27 small, flat patties (about 1-inch wide). Place on a separate baking sheet.
  3. Place the sheet with potatoes in the oven. After 10 minutes, add the sheet with beef patties to the oven (on a different rack). Bake potatoes for 20 mins total (flip halfway), and beef for 10 mins (flip halfway), until cooked.
  4. While components bake, cut each cheese slice and each bacon slice into 9 small squares.
  5. Build each bite on the potato baking sheet: Crispy Crown + Beef Patty + Cheese Square + Bacon Piece.
  6. Return assembled bites to the hot oven for 2-3 minutes, just until cheese is melted. Insert a bamboo pick into each to secure. Serve warm with dipping sauces.

Notes

Pro Tips: For the best texture, bake the potato crowns and beef patties on separate sheets at the same time to ensure everything gets crispy and cooked through. You can use pre-cooked bacon to save time. For easy assembly and serving, use decorative bamboo picks or long toothpicks to secure each stack. If you can't find crispy crowns, flatten slightly thawed tater tots to form a base.
